Lamune - 01
Posted by WilluknightTomosaka Kenji, the main character of this story, moved to this coastal town when he was a child. At that time, the sea spread in front of him was shying like lamune (lemonade), reflecting the sunlight of the summer. There, he met a girl.
Her name was Kokonoe Nanami, who lived next door. Her room was only 1-2 meters away beyond the veranda. Their rooms were so closed as if they were within their arms’ reach.
As the time passed, the seasons came round, they memories has been accumulated with time. They think of their normal lives and common relationship as precious things.
The sun begins to shrine strongly, cicadas begin to buzz, and the sky clears up…Here comes the summer, again! For Kenji and Nanami, it is normal summer, but it has special meaning…
Translation:
Heres a series about two doinks that are destined to be together, only they’re too stupid to know it, so they’re going to inflict you, the viewer, to 12 episodes of tedious romantic hi-jinks, accidental gropings, fanservice shots, and more girls to battle over Kenji’s feelings..
I’m sorry, was that too cynical?
The episode starts off quite nice actually, Little Kenji is playing on the beach, at the place he has just moved too, torturing crabs. Nanami-chan runs up and tells Kenji to let the crabs go. He responds by placing a crab on her head. She starts crying and runs off home.
Kenji gets bored and goes home too, where he discovers that the girl he met on the beach, lives right next door, and that their rooms are directly opposite to each other.
Flash forward 10 years, and Kenji wakes up, after a frighting (and really cool cg) dream. He goes over to Nanamichan’s room to wake her. But oh no, shes slipped down between the bed, and her pantsu are accidentally showing !!! Oh the DRAMA
In case you haven’t noticed, It started going downhill right after the dream sequence. Does it get better though ? Well….. not really. In fact some (like me for example) might say it gets worse.
This anime is (in case you haven’t guessed) based on a dating game (pretty bloody obvious i must say). Presumably in later episodes we will be introduced to the other harem candidates i mean victems uh fanservice girls that is to say romantic possibilities.
The best part of this anime is the high quality raw. The lines are crisp and colours vibrant and vivid. However the art is still generic Harem Anime[tm] quality.
The OP is happy forgettable music, but at least its not annoying. The ED isn’t as good, in particular i think the singer deserves an award for “worst pronounciation of english in a jpop, EVER”…
I’m not planning downloading any more of this, and on my scale it fits in somewhere around My Otome. Its not as irritating as Otome, but at least Otome is more interesting (though not for the right reasons).
If you like this sort of crap romantically challenged genre, then head on over to C1 anime (/me wonders how a subber can have both one of the best AND one of the worst shows of the season).

It’s bad enough that you pass judgement to a series you haven’t watched, but making a review with such gross inaccuracies in it is something else. Lamune is the ONLY romance anime I have watched there four girls and a guy live under the same roof yet there is *NO* question at all about which ones are the couple. Whereas all other such anime make this affair a contest over which girl the male character will choose, Lamune is the sole (as far as I know) execption and that is what made the series so fresh for me.
There are NO accidental gropings, only 2-3 fanservice shots in the whole series, and no battle at any point over Kenji’s feelings… next time do some research before criticising an anime (or anything/anyone in life really) because saying the complete opposite of the truth in a review is simply unbelievable.

I loved that show.
and yeah, it’s not a harem anime. It’s just a simple romance story with almost no tension until the last couple episodes
harmless fun. I could understand people not liking it, but, at least criticize the actual show instead of assumptions about the show
