Blood+ ep01 review
Posted by Willuknight
Well, i took quite a lot of screenshots for this, but considering that Random Curoisty has all the same ones, if not more, i will refer you over to their excellent post ^^ It just takes me waaay to long to process them and then format the html code.
The starting scene struck me as something very similer to the first episode of elfin leid, the part with all the blood, killing, slicing and chopping.
Im not that keen on graphic violence (thats why when i was watching EL i stopped and deleted the episode after 5minutes). However i hung in there, untill the murdering stopped and we went to the OP.
OP: Nothing mind blowing, not unpleasent to listen too, though at the moment i think i liked the Black Cat OP better..

After the OP, we’re introduced to the main character Saya. Interestingly enough, it looks like her sport is the high jump; sound familer ? If your thinking of Suzuka, you would be right. Blood+ is miles better then Suzuka though, even if it is in a genre i’m not really that keen on.
I’m really impressed by the art and gfx in this, that bloody scene that this started with was quite impressive, in terms of technical quality. Also Live Evil has done a really great job releasing a high quality and professional episode. It feels like a dvdrip, thats how good it is.
The overall art is very nice, i didn’t notice any shoddy or cheap shots, just nice flowing and clear animation. Miles better then Canvas or Suzuka or Black Cat, that i’ve watched recently. The character designs are nice and fresh as well. They’re not generic and Saya is cute ^^
The story flowed quit smoothly, even if the opening was rather like genocide ~_~
The scenes at the end, with the monster and the chase, Saya’s fright and horror, were realisticly depicted, and my DOINK-meter stayed mercifully silent.
All and all, its the best anime i’ve watched of the season, though i don’t expect that to last once i’ve watched the rest of whats avalible.
Blood+ Isn’t really to my taste, but i will watch it for now. Speed Grapher wasn’t too my taste either really, but I was able to cope with it and have enjoyed parts.

Ehm, it’s neither — it runs parallel to it, shares characters, but.. the events in blood: the last vampire aren’t mentioned whatsoever. Not out on american dvd yet, but you can get it around the intarwebs in the usual places — has actually gotten really good as of late.

This is a very nice serie, 50 eps.
About Blood: The last vampire this is after it. i have seen the serie and somewhere they mentioned something about David his father. so i think David his father was in Blood: The last vampire.
