Uknighted Manganime Life is too short to watch bad anime

wow, i love the characters and i love the story. I can’t wait to learn more about the world. It feels like when i discovered Bleach, all over again, but Shana is sooo much cuter :D. On the downside Whatizname isn’t as interesting (yet) but that looks set to change!

UPDATE: Shana gets the number 2 sport because of the interesting story, and the total pwnage of Shana. Whatsizname is developing as a character too.

UPDATE; Shana moves to first place, simply because she pwns… Oh, and that guy is getting pretty cool too.

What can i say, i’m loving this. I’ve only seen 3 episodes, but with strong and interesting characters, great voice actors, unique and well done animation, and a mysterious storyline, how can it go wrong? Best of all the main character is bring all my fanboy feelings back from another character i used to admire

3) Mushishi

This is exactly what I hoped for Kamichu. It has the best art of the season, and is totally gorgeous to look at. It also feels like a Ghibli film and has a great first episode. For some reason I kind of lost interest in Kamichu, it got rather doinky. Mushishi feels a lot more ‘real’ and I anticipate I will enjoy it even more. UPDATE: Mushishi would be almost a tie for first, excpet that it is a strange anime, and some may not like it because its not what they’re used to it. The real reason though is that so far the plot is still episodic, I’ve loving the monster of the week however, as this is one of the few shows that suits it.

4) Karin
Juries still out on this one, as i have only seen one ep I plan to watch more, and i hope it can live up to its manga…

UPDATE: Well, i’m up to ep5 of Karin, and i’m enjoying it as much as the manga. Its not quite on the same level as Mushishi or Shana, but is a great comedy fest ^^

5) Aria

I’m really loving this slice of life show, and it is very cute. I doubt it will end up in my top spot, as it seems too fluffy and happy happy joy joy for me to love it to pieces Also the story is episodic and doesn’t seem to have an overal arc. However it is a very enjoyable show to watch, and hey cuteness owns! If i don’t get bored of the stories they come up with, this will definitely stay in my top three. I’m hoping that the story will get deeper, and its not all happy days. non-depressing anime is great, but generally if there’s no tension then the plot usually lacks something. There are the rare few stories that manage to pull this though, so I’m not going to jump to any conclusions.

The art is beautiful, however the entire thing suffers from a low quality screening. Something like that works for Canvas, but for Aria i want to see High Definition glorious colour and clear crisp art. I’m not sure yet whether this is a problem with the raw quality or the animation studio - will have to wait until the DVDs come out I suppose, unless anyone can tell me ?

6) Black Cat

Brings back all the fun memories i had watching Trigun. It has some pacing and mood issues, but apart from that its pretty good.

I should watch more of this, but violence is REALLY not my preferred genre, i find it depressing.

I’m actually enjoyed the humour in this, despite the stupid harem genre… keep it up!
