Touka Gettan 03 - Did I See That Right?

Setting aside the fact that the ending to Magikano was an absolutely travesty, it was a pretty good series. But I’m not here to talk about it, am I? No, today we’re talking about Touka Gettan, a series that seems to me to be very similar to Fate/Stay Night, except that it confuses me more and has more sex involved. Hm.

Touka Gettan

Touka Gettan stars the eponymous Touka, a character so androgynous that I thought he was a girl until I was nearly done with the second episode. Speaking of which, I should probably summarize the first two episodes real quick, so that this post makes some sense. This is complicated somewhat by the fact that I really don’t know what happened in the first two episodes. Here’s what I remember of them, organized nicely into bullet points:

  • Touka talks with his mom on the phone, possibly for the first time.
  • Touka has some flower-sword-thing inside his torso. I think it was called the Crystal Sword.
  • Some bizarre ceremony thing happens…
  • But not before a massive food fight.
  • Touka runs into some girl named Momoka and they kiss.
  • Pretty much everyone seems to be someone else, only reincarnated.
  • A bunch of people disappeared during the ceremony thing.

So um, yeah. On to the now. […]

A Bazillion Episodes Condensed Into Nothing

Posted on February 23rd, 2006, by Elyscape.
Categories: Anime, Blog'd.

So, as you may have determined from my watch list of death, I’m watching a bloody lot. For example, I’ve seen like eight episodes of Monster in the past three or four days, and I’ve also been watching other things. As a result, there is no way in hell that I’m going to blog everything. Not only do I have no desire to do so, but I also lack the time (homework and robotics and anime) and the attention span (ADHD). So, I’ll be posting short descriptions and/or responses to assorted episodes of things I’ve been watching. These will be roughly three sentences long.
It’s worth noting that I shall continue blogging Magikano, Kage Kara Mamoru, and Ayakashi as normal. I make no promises about anything else, though.

Read on for three-sentence episode condensations!

Pretend this is a shiny image

It seems to be the current trend to post a big list detailing the Stuff I Happen To Be Or Soon Shall Be Watching, where I is whomever. As we have already established, I have no willpower, so I’ll do the same thing. […]

Kage Kara Mamoru 02

Kage Kara Mamoru is pretty cool. Why? It has ninjas. I shouldn’t have to say anything more.

Anyways, the first episode can be summed up in a few short bullet points:

  1. Mamoru Kagemori is a big nerd.
  2. Yuuna Konnyaku, his female next-door neighbor, is an airhead.
  3. Yuuna gets herself kidnapped by a gang.
  4. A ninja saves Yuuna.
  5. Mamoru turns out to be the ninja.
  6. Ninjas kick ass.
  7. Yuuna wants Mamoru, who either fails to notice or fails to care.

This episode begins with a flashback to, like, 400 years ago. Here we see Mamoru’s ancestor accepting the great task of protecting Yuuna’s ancestor. Since then, the Kagemori clan has loyally guarded the Konnyaku family. Why? I’m going to guess that Yuuna’s intelligence is an inherited trait. If I’m wrong, I’ll stick to it anyway.

Don't do it! Think of the children!

Back to the present! […]

Magikano 03 - Surprise! It’s Not Sucking!

Categories: Blog'd, Magikano.

Against all odds, Magikano is actually shaping up to be a good show. Sure, it has next to no overarching plot. Sure, it’s probably just an excuse to show a bunch of girls doing alarming things to an alarmed male. Sure, I can’t remember what my third “sure” was going to be. But it’s somehow managing to do this in an amusing enough way that it doesn’t really matter.

"Say WHAAAT?!"

The third episode of Magikano is really more like two shorter episodes separated by a commercial break. In the first half, everybody sets out into a bizarre world in Ayumi’s bedroom. In the second half, they take a trip through the past. […]

Ayakashi~ Japanese Classic Horror 02

Categories: Anime, Blog'd.

Once again, I begin blogging a series with the second episode. How long will this continue, I wonder?

Anyways, Ayakashi is pretty cool. As I understand it, Ayakashi is the anime-style retelling of three classical Japanese horror stories, a fact that you simply could not have guessed from the title. Each tale will comprise four of its twelve episodes. The first tale is called Yotsuya Kaidan, which means something that I cannot suitably decypher with my meager (read: nonexistent) knowledge of the Japanese language.

In the first episode, we met Tamiya Iemon, who was forbidden to see Oiwa, his girlfriend, ever again by Oiwa’s father, who believed him to have done something bad that I can’t remember. Iemon subsequently caught the father at night and killed him. Then, he married Oiwa, saying that he’d help her get revenge. And then some other stuff happened and the episode ended.

But this time, I blogged it. […]

Kashimashi Girl Meets Girl 02

For some reason, I seem to start blogging things only with the second episode. Will this trend continue? Probably not! But let’s see how long I keep it up!

Anyways, last time on Kashi Ma Z Kashimashi, Hazumu got hit by a big spaceship and was subsequently turned into a girl. The entire thing can be summed up in a single sentence reminiscent of a certain YTMND: nigga stole my penis!

I wouldn't hit it, but the aliens apparently wouldHazumu learns to avoid chili peppers

This time, Hazumu gets acquainted with being a girl. […]

Magikano 02 - Why Should I Suffer Alone?

Categories: Blog'd, Magikano.

One thing that you should probably know about me is that I have no willpower whatsoever. After watching the first episode of Kagihime, for example, only an extraordinary amount of determination was able to prevent me from watching more. Additionally, now that more episodes have been subbed, I feel a horrible pull to download and watch them.

"Something more interesting"

Magikano isn’t as bad as Kagihime. As a result, I’m going to be watching Magikano, against my better judgement. But why should I have to suffer alone?

Hello, all. I’m the newest member of the Manganime Staff. I’ll be posting everything from single-episode posts to long, Karmaburn-esque essays that overanalyze something really obscure. For now, though, I’ll leave you with a real-life story.

I have a dog. She’s a black lab named Lila, which is Hebrew for “night”.

My dog Lila watching TV

Isn’t she cute? But she has a dark secret. You see, my dog is going to destroy the world.

Lila with glowing eyes

Read on for proof.
