Uknighted Manganime Life is too short to watch bad anime

A young boy gets saved from drowning by a mermaid but, according to mermaid law, if a human sees a mermaid’s true form, both have to be killed. The only solution to the problem is for him to marry her. But can they keep her secret from being found out?

“Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei” or “So Long, Mr Despair” is a delightfully original and creative new show which embodies everything i loved about Ouran High School, Azumanga Dioh and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and mixes it up to present a rollercoaster ride of fun and a fresh look on life. Never before has suicide been so amusing.

The first episode introduced us to a female photographer (Shirasu) who took a peace inspiring photo of the Flag, a global symbol of the hope for peace between the two warring nations (no name counties somewhere on the Asian conteinent. This flag is stolen by a terrorist cell, attempting to derail the peace conferences. In the second episode, Shirasu is dispatched to cover the task group who’s mission it is to recapture the flag. This task force is equipped with the latest in armoured mobile weapon platforms, HAVWC(High Agility Versatile Weapon Carrier). These mecha are piloted and are able to switch between high-speed transport mode and upright-humanoid shaped combat mode.

In all honesty, the dubbed Bleach isn’t that bad, and was not butchered as much as I would have expected.

I came at this anime blind, besides the fact that it was produced by Bones. From experience I know that Bones usually makes decent anime (such as RahXephon and Escaflowne: The Movie). When I checked for reviews of the anime, they claimed that it is a little too melodramatic, and emphasized the depressing storyline a bit too much. Being a headstrong person, I determined I might as well check it out, and give it a decent chance. And thus I have just finished the first episode. Click on “Read More” for the full background.

On a whim, I downloaded Bokura ga Ita. I watched both the downloaded episodes in one go. [For screencaps and verdict, follow the “Read the rest” link!]

Kyo (15yrs) is living alone with her younger sister Asu (9yrs). Her mother is dead and the father has run off somewhere, so she’s in charge of the household and caring for herself and her sister. She makes money somehow though delivering papers.

The story starts off with Takahasi Nanami-chan, who has just started in a new high-school, and doesn’t know anyone. She finds herself attracted to the chief playboy of the class, Yano. Somehow they seem to end up talking quite often, and Nanami discoveres that she likes him, despite how annoying, irritating and laidback he seems.

I don’t usually bother writing about trailers, but this trailer is unbelivable. This has seriously the best animation i have ever seen in an anime, it was so beautiful i felt like crying !
