Makoto has been expected to follow in his fathers footsteps his entire life, and continue on the family business, however Makoto’s actual desire is to be an actor. This clashes deeply with his fathers beliefs and finally in an attempt to shut his son up once and for all, Makoto’s father proposes a challenge. To prove his acting talent, determination and dedication to becomming an actor, Makoto must transfer schools and live his last two years at collage as a girl. If he can make it to graduation with no one finding out his secret, then he is free to do what he wishes.

However within the first week of transfering to the new school, he makes friends with another Drama club member, Ito-san - a tomboy who usually wears the male school uniform and has a boyish haircut. While at her house, Ito discovers Makoto’s secret, but after hearing the story behind the at-first-disturbing-act, she vows to help Makoto keep his secret and defeat his fathers challenge.

I find reviewing this show rather difficult. I really loved the show from the beginning, and stuck through till the end, however there were plenty of moments along the way where the plot seemed to lack direction. Read on for more information, and why I think that you should still watch it.

At 15, Nanami is starting highschool and exploring life. Her attention is caught by the attention seeking and exeperating Yano, a popular confident classmate who’s carefree attitude both repells and attracts Nanami. Nanami gradually unravels the mystery that is Yano, and slowly we understand Yano’s motivations and story. A romance to rival Kare Kano (without the piss poor ending).

Don’t expect a blog post about the 1st OVA, because this post isn’t that. Instead, I’ve chosen to talk a bit about what Ichigo Mashimaro is, for all those people out there that have never heard of the show. There are a few screencaps of the OVA though.

Kekkon Dekinai Otoko - The Man who Can’t Get Married

Kekkon Dekinai, is about a most difficult and stubbon man, (Kuwano Shinsuke) who only really cares about himself. He doesn’t attend social events (if he can possibly avoid them) and is happist, by himself. The thought of letting other people into his apartment, makes him ill, and he tends to upset and anger people through his blunt and obtuse communication skills.

Zero no Tsukaima - 03 to 04 - Synchro

interesting premise, characters and possibily interesting plot. Instead, we are treated to slapstick comedy, characters with no underlying motivation and perverted and gullible antics. Louise plays the part of a sexually naieve Loli, which gives an excuse for fanservice, and komedy in the way of her changing infront of idiot-yuji (not real name). At the sametime, she takes to the hard master rule quite well, delighting in punishing her slave and various other forms of male abuse. This really is a great show for all the loli S&M fans out there (no i do not want to meet you). At time you feel sorry for idiot-yuji, but seeing as most of the time he doesn’t think before he speaks and is easily manipulated (by big-bust-chan), that pity soon fades to disdain.

It’s sad really, this show could have been as good as Shana, but instead it delights in sterotypes that got old eons ago and brings nothing new to the table.

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou manga review

What do you get when you take Japan, put it in the future where something has happened that made nature slowly reclaim the land and introduce a group of robotic humanoids into the mix? The most beautiful, soulful and emotionally challenging manga series ever made, that’s what. Read on and see what I thought of this manga series that, amazingly enough, STILL haven’t gotten an official US release. Sometimes, there is no justice.

It’s been a while since I’ve written anything at all, so I hope I’ve made up some for that with this review. ^^;;
